Day 123 Tuesday 8th May

Will is following our route around Australia in a book called ‘Are we there yet?’ by Alison Lester. Because of the family in this book visiting ‘Murphy’s haystacks’ lovely granite rock formations we also make the 80klm return trip, along with this they also make a stop at the great white shark replica and put their heads in its mouth. So guess what?  We drive to Ceduna, the last town before ‘The Nullabor’.

In honour of our 'Jimmy'

An amazing bee hive amongst the rocks.

Yes! We had to copy the book.
I was happy seeing this AFTER the boys had been out fishing...Hmmm.

Day 122 Monday 7th May

We wake to a gorgeous, sunny autumn day with hardly any wind. Will and Danny go fishing in the Kayak. Will is mesmerised by the millions of jelly fish floating in the water and washed up on the beach. We walk into town and have a look around, great seaside village with a nice vibe about it. The day is spent on the beach and enjoying one of those you don’t want to miss afternoons and sunsets.
The fisherman.

Yummy jellyfish.

Day 121 Sunday 6th May

We drive about 460 km’s to Streaky Bay, beautiful caravan park right on the water. It is picturesque when we arrive around 4:30. It has been a long flat drive, we stop at ‘Iron Knob’ and is about as exciting a town as it sounds. We stop for chips at Kimba, great chips from roadhouse.

Day 120 Saturday 5th May

After a wonderful couple of months exploring many parts of South Australia, we are eager to get on the road and head West. Not before we again stop at Mt. Remarkables National Park. More marshmallows and emus.

Day 119 Friday 4th May

Danny has had some ongoing nausea over the past few months, so we are back in Adelaide for him to have an endoscopy just to rule out anything serious- which they do much to all our relief. Plus Will hasn’t had his 4 year-old needles because his mother is slack and forgot so we had those done today. While Danny was having a tube down into his stomach Will and I  caught up with friends from Sydney at the markets.

Day 118 Thursday 3rd May

We are heading back to Adelaide, overnight stop at Mt Remarkables National Park, camp fire, marshmellows and emus. Love this spot. We stop for lunch at beautiful church turned cafe at Port Wakefield, then back to Semephore.

Day 117 Wednesday 2nd May

I want to be a rocket when I grow up.

This is Kel. I have taken over the blog. We are way behind. Pack up. Will and Danny go to the rocket museum and I explore this amazing town, NOT. Woomera feels like it has sucked my soul out of me.

Day 116 Tuesday 1st May

plenty of time for training

Time to head south again and stop at Woomera and have look at the rockets. Kelli dislikes the place immensely.

80k drive to William Creek where the fuel hit $2.30 and 3 icecreams cost $12 from the eclectic pub. Drove 166k west across the last patch of dirt to Cooper Pedy. Very happy to be back on the blacktop!

Day 113 Saturday 28th

Love the dust

babes in the spring

Drove up to Marree after filling up with fuel at Copley $1.79/L. Marree’s fuel was $1.95 and the road there is only half dirt. Will and I played on the trains left there from when the Ghan went through. Camped at Coward Springs after seeing water in Lake Ayer South from the rest stop on the Oodnadatta Track.

Day 112 Friday 27th

Drove up to Arkaroola for a look and had a bit of a bushwalk. The ranges are stunning but feral cats seem to have decimated most of the wildlife.

Day 111 Thursday 26th

Big drive north today through an old copper mining town called Blinman then head out to the highway to refuel for $1.85/L at Leigh Creek which is a purpose built mining town. Drive out into the back blocks of the Gammon Ranges. We discover our camper does like to eat dust but it is worth the drive to this wilderness.
