Day 48 thurs 23

Will and Arthur

Up early to pack and Will plays with his new best friend but has to say goodbye again. Drive west along the GOR to see the 12 Apostles and stop for lunch in gorgeous Port Campbell. Shop at Warrnambool then head North to the Grampians seen rising dramatically from the plane.

Day 47 Wed 22

Cape Otway Lighthouse


Somehow got the van in here.

Wake to rain but it clears to another day in paradise. Visit the oldest lighthouse in OZ today and do more fishing.

Day 46 Tues 21

Salmon for breakfast that another camper gave us. Kel caught a couple of mullet from the beach and thinks she’s ‘The ants pants’. It’s a bit windy in the Kayak but all having fun.

View to Blanket Bay

Left Airey’s Inlet and Will had to say goodbye to another best friend. Lunch at Apollo Bay then arrived at Blanket Bay Cape Otway and the place is crawling with Koalas. It is very beautiful and free camping we are told.

Day 44 Sun 19

definitely Round the Twist

Visited the lighthouse that was used in ‘Round the Twist’ before driving down to Lorne and having a fish off the pier. Lunch was only King Prawns and whole smoked trout while admiring the bay. Life is tough!

Day 43 Sat 17th

Will's over the rail at Bells Beach






Visited the Torquay farmer’s market and bought mussels and gnocchi which Kel cooked to perfection that night. Sat on the famous Bells Beach for an hour or more watching surfers and their dogs. Drive home visiting more stunning headlands and beaches.

Day 42 fri 17

Phillip Island




5 hour drive today from Phillip Island to Airey’s Inlet (Great Ocean Road) via Melbourne. It’s a beautiful afternoon as we  experience this spectacular stretch of coast.

Day 41 Thursday 16

Go to see more penguins this morning and have a quiet afternoon doing van repairs and making bread.

Day 40 wed 15


Drive to Phillip Island via Jayco centre for van tap parts. Don’t arrive till 3.30pm. Swim, dinner then off to see the penguins. We did the right thing and didn’t take any photos but many others ignored the rules.

Day 39 Tuesday 14



I think I broke a nail




Had a great day at Sovereign Hill tourist town today. Packed in as many tours as we could and still ran out of time as we left about 5.30 for a quick look around Ballarat. Beautiful town with matching architecture.

Lunch in Melbourne city and Kel visits the Art Gallery and Will and Dan do the museum. Pretty tired from yesterday.

Day 37 sun 12













Big day out in Melbourne started with a tram ride to Victoria Markets than another tram to the St Kilda Festival where we ate and partied. Listened to Archie Roach at Federation Square for not long enough before having Malay in China town. Arrive home exhausted about 9pm.
