Watched
the owner feed the kangaroos before driving to Margaret River looking at the many
trees and branches fallen during the storms. As soon as we reach Margaret River
there is a torrential downpour and the streets are flooded and we have to move
the car from the carpark as we fear the water will come up through the caravan
floor.
Wake to
a very cold day before driving to “Round Tuit’caravan park near Northcliff. Set
up and drive to beautiful Windy Harbour where we see our first whale a long way
out. Catch a small flathead from another ‘Salmon Beach’.
Drive up
to the deserted timber cutting village of Shannon. The afternoon is warm and
sunny and we indulge ourselves by sitting in the sun and reading before walking
through the village sites without any buildings as they have been removed when
the sawmill shut down.
Spent
the morning visiting ‘The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk’which we loved
except Kelli got motion sickness. Lunch in Walpole and bushwalking at ‘Normalup
Inlet’. The suffix úp’ means ‘place of’ in Aboriginal language and is used
everywhere in the south east.
